Mads and I went to the doctor’s this morning for his one month check up. He’s very good in the car, and Mom’s biceps are getting awesome from carrying Mads, his car seat, and his bag of baby stuff down 3 flights of stairs every time we leave the apartment.
I was curious to know how much Maddox would weigh – he’s a good eater, and I’ve been noticing that he keeps outgrowing his clothes. At his last weigh-in, he was 8 lbs 4 oz. Today, he came in at 10 lbs 14 oz and 21″ tall (a gain of 1″ in height). I was so proud of him, it was worth all the hour-long feedings and nighttime chow downs.
After his appointment, I fed Mads at the doctor’s office (second time he’s eaten out of the apartment). Our pediatrician confirmed that Mads can go into populated enclosed spaces (offices, stores, etc.), so I called my friend Sarah at work to screen for sick people in the office. Yes, paranoid, I know, but it never hurts to be safe.
After confirming everyone was relatively healthy, I brought Maddox into the office where he was held by about 10 different people, and passed around three or four times each – we were there for 4 hours. He ate again at the office, and I am still not over how fantastic it is to be able to take him out for more than 2 hours at a time.
He was so good – he likes to be held, and only cried once, when Mom was a little late to feed him. It was also really nice to be able to talk with one of my coworkers who has recently had a baby (not the one pictured to the left, I didn’t get a photo of her). We compared notes, and are both just really happy to have new little guys (in her case, a little girl) in our lives.
Maddox is really chill with other people, so he napped most of the afternoon, and it was great to spend some time catching up with my coworkers. Also, a ridiculous amount of people at my office really, really like babies.
When we got home, I noticed how Mads is actually focusing on things with his eyes. Not just people, but on toys and shapes and the jingly bell things dangling from his car seat handle. He is growing up so fast!
On another note, since he’s 4 weeks old now, this week, we’re going to tackle pumping. Wish us luck!

Also, thanks to Dave for the pictures!
